Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation Validates District Investment Plans under FSRP Project
Garowe, March 24, 2026 — The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, led by Hon. Mohamed Abdulkadir Donyaale, in collaboration with the Food Security and Resilience Project (S-FSRP) Project Coordination Unit and partner line ministries, convened a validation workshop to review and endorse the findings of a comprehensive assessment conducted under Phase One of the FSRP project.
The assessment was based on extensive data collection, community engagement, and stakeholder consultations carried out across the districts of Bosaso, Qardho, Iskushuban, and Galkayo. The workshop brought together key stakeholders to ensure that the identified priorities reflect the needs and realities of local communities.
During the meeting, participants formally validated the District Investment Plans (DIPs) for the four target districts. These plans are designed to address critical development gaps and strengthen livelihoods through targeted interventions in key sectors.
The prioritized investment areas include:
- Implementation of solar-powered irrigation systems to enhance agricultural productivity
- Development and rehabilitation of market infrastructure to improve trade and access
- Environmental protection and sustainable natural resource management
- Strengthening animal health services and promoting fodder production
In addition, the workshop endorsed the implementation roadmap, outlining clear steps, timelines, and coordination mechanisms to guide the effective execution of the planned interventions.
This milestone marks a significant step forward in advancing food security and resilience efforts in Puntland, ensuring that investments are community-driven, inclusive, and aligned with sustainable development objectives.
